Supply Chain

  • It is critical to our success that we manage this aspect well.
  • At full production of our expanded capacity, we need 90,000 tons of roots per annum
  • Our strategy has been to develop multiple sources of raw materials i.e.:
    • Own farming of cassava roots under the leadership of experienced commercial farmers;
    • Contract farmers who will farm themselves on their own land but agree to sell the crop to us;
    • Open market cassava purchases.
  • Fortunately, there has been a major push to promote cassava production since the 1990’s and we have worked closely with the IITA and the various State Departments of Agriculture and Cassava Initiatives in pursuit of 100% tuber supply.
  • The Supply Chain is actively managed by a team of experienced staff to ensure we identify farmers, recruit them to grow cassava roots for us, monitor the progress of their farming and assist them with inputs and logistics.
  • We manage our tuber supply by months in the year, then weeks in the month and then days in the week – all to ensure we receive the right amount of roots in quantity and quality, on time, daily.
  • As our reputation as a reliable purchaser at fair prices has grown, so has the supply of tubers on offer also grown and we believe that our tuber needs will be met as our operations expand.
